Wilhoit Gas has been a trusted name in propane service since 1946, when two brothers, Wirt and Judson Wilhoit, returned from their honorable service in World War II and founded Georgia’s first exclusively propane company. Operating out of a small front room in their parents’ house on the town square in Warrenton, GA, the brothers began their new venture with one truck and one customer— their father.

The early days were humble but full of hard work. Judson managed the office and handled the administrative tasks, while Wirt worked in the field—setting tanks and crawling under houses to get the job done. Their dedication and tireless efforts helped grow the business, supplying propane to the residents of Warren County and surrounding areas.

Today, Wilhoit Gas is based in Greensboro, GA, and is still family-owned and operated. After years of growth, expansions, and acquisitions, the company is now led by Wirt’s daughter, Beth, who has been involved in the business since 1991. Under her leadership, the company has expanded its service area to 19 counties in Georgia, anchored by offices in Greene and Wilkes Counties. Beth’s daily commitment to improving operations has ensured that Wilhoit Gas remains a leader in propane service across the region.

Recognizing the importance of passing on the family legacy, Beth enlisted her son, Bill, to learn the business from the ground up. Since 2006, Bill has taken on various roles, from answering phones and assisting employees in the field to building customer relationships and even delivering propane. No task is too large or small for Bill as he continues to carry the torch and prepare for the future of the company.

While the Wilhoit family is at the heart of the business, all our employees are considered part of the family.  Each member of Wilhoit Gas is an invaluable part of the team.  Their loyalty and dedication are deeply appreciated. Their hard work is instrumental in the continued growth and success of Wilhoit Gas.

Most recently Alan Landrum has been named a working partner in Wilhoit Gas.  He has been with the company over 25 years and is vital in every aspect of the business.  We are all proud of the foundation Wirt and Judson built, and the company they started continues to thrive under the leadership of the next generation. Surely, the founding brothers would be proud of how far Wilhoit Gas has come and the bright future ahead.
