Wilhoit Gas Company, Inc. was formed in Warrenton, Georgia in 
1946 by Wirt F. Wilhoit and Jud P. Wilhoit Jr.  The brothers 
had returned from World War II and began the business with one 
pickup truck, one delivery truck and one customer!

The company was located in a spare room at the Wilhoit 
brothers' family home at 65 Court Square in Warrenton.  Some 
years later as the company grew, the business office was 
relocated to premises at 63 Court Square where the home office 
remains today.

In 1998, Wirt Wilhoit's children became owners of the company.  
In October 1999, Wilhoit Gas expanded by purchasing Oconee 
Propane and Hancock Propane.

Currently owned by Wirt's daughters, Beth Wilhoit Ard and Jo 
Wilhoit Johnson, the company is managed by Alton Johnson.  The 
company has 19 employees and delivers approximately 3 million 
gallons of propane annually to more than 7,000 customers in 14 
counties.  Besides the Warrenton office, other company 
locations are in Greensboro, Sparta and Washington.
